The Lucky One
From the unimaginable depths of trauma to the heights of global advocacy, Dr. Jennisue Jessen’s life is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit. At the age of four, Jennisue was sold into the sex trade, and her journey toward healing began after a failed suicide attempt at seventeen. This pivotal moment led her down a path of self-discovery, restoration, and ultimately, a mission devoted to freedom, and empowering others to rise.
Jennisue now serves as the Founder & CEO of Compass31, an international NGO dedicated to serving survivors of exploitation across 43 countries. In 2021, she was appointed to the U.S. Advisory Council on Human Trafficking, where she has played an integral role in shaping federal counter-trafficking policy, bringing the lived wisdom of a survivor to the table.
